A unit that switches on, blows air, and still doesn't cool the room usually comes down to one of a handful of causes — most of them checkable in the first few minutes of a visit.
Low refrigerant from a slow gas leak is the most common cause in units older than 3–4 years. A blocked filter or dusty outdoor coil is the second most common, and often something an AMC visit would have caught earlier.
Less commonly: a faulty capacitor keeping the compressor from running at full load, a drainage block causing the unit to auto-cut on a float switch, or — on inverter models — a PCB fault that limits compressor speed.
None of these are diagnosable from the couch. A technician with gauges and a multimeter can usually tell which of the seven it is within 10–15 minutes of arriving.
